our longest day in japan so far (part 2)...

---------
NOTE:
This is a continuation of part 1 from the morning we tried to get to the gameshow, after finally getting back to the hotel around 1p.
---------

So we got back to the hotel from the airport for the 2nd time...

and we decided that to console ourselves for not making it to the gameshow that day that we would take another free shuttle from the hotel to the downtown Narita station stop and look around, maybe check out the train schedules.

after much studying of signs and maps we finally get a station agent to tell us the proper number of transfers and lines we need to take to actually get to the conference on the rail line the following day. We also get a really good JR line map. Oh yeah, there's also braille everywhere:

After getting the information we think we need for travel on the following day we decide to look for some lunch in the area around the station and we score with our first sushi joint in japan!

yay, sake
and sashimi

OK, lunch is done and we find the slowest, tightest stuffiest internet cafe we can find (not intentionally) and start to upload some photos and write some posts - this is when some of our first posts went up. 40 minutes later, Anita started sneezing like mad and had to get out of there so I followed her a couple of minutes later. We found a coffee shop to help us perk up a bit after that fat lunch and that stuffy shop.

while sipping our cups-o-joe, Anita has this crazy idea of actually looking at the guide book we brought along to see if there's anything to do in this little town.

hmmn, sounds like there's some temple and shrine thing down the main snakelike and windy road of the town. Might as well go walk down there and take a look since we're already out here for the day.

- did I mention that this was part of our longest day? that walk to the temple and the temple itself will take up a whole other post (coming soon) - but i'll leave you with one last pic from the beginning of our trek starting from that coffee shop.

sommmeone has a crush - too bad we're all full of sushi. [man, can you see that longing in those eyes?!]

ok, ok, just one more pic cause that's not really indicative of the rest of that day but I couldn't not put that in there. This is one pic from just one neat distraction on our long windy walk that day:

'night for now - I'm off to my cubby hole!
